Just like our award-winning bourbon and our lightning fast horses, we Louisvillians know a thing or two about food. Considering the city’s wide variety of one-of-a-kind cuisine and assortment of classic dishes, it’s obvious that Louisville is a haven for foodies. And one thing all foodies can certainly appreciate is food prepared with the freshest ingredients available, especially when those fresh ingredients have been organically produced right here in our very own region.
And this Sunday, the Rainbow Blossom Natural Food Market of Saint Matthews is creating a haven of its own for those foodies in search of the freshest ingredients with its Annual Farmers Market Celebration!
In addition to Rainbow Blossom’s regular weekly Sunday Farmers Market, the celebration will feature interesting demonstrations by the folks at Slow Food Bluegrass, a volunteer group striving to promote awareness of the benefits of a fresh and healthy diet. While representing the group, Chef Gina Stipo will prepare a few of her favorite dishes using only fresh ingredients purchased from the market. Don’t forget about the tasting once the food is done!
And make sure you stick around for the raffle at the end of the event! Rainbow Blossom is hosting a raffle for a $300 gift card to any of the company’s Louisville or New Albany locations along with a free bike courtesy of Parkside Bikes. You can enter the drawing at any Rainbow Blossom or Parkside Bikes location now until the day of the event.
Other than the exciting demonstration and raffle, guests of the Annual Farmers Market Celebration can expect to see an impressive display of fresh eggs, homemade style canned preserves, a variety of pastured meats, an assortment of baked goods and of course, tons of fresh hand-picked produce. The event will also feature some of Louisville’s most delicious healthy food trucks.
The Annual Farmers Market Celebration will kick off at noon on Sunday, August 23rd at 3738 Lexington Road and will end with the raffle at 3pm. Admission is free and all ages are welcome!
