This coming Sunday, October 31 is Halloween. Unlike some other holidays, Halloween always lands on the same date each year—and there has been some question about what night is the one to trick-or-treat.
Answer: Halloween night. Sunday. However, specific times may vary.

, Halloween trick-or-treating will be on, well, Halloween this year in Louisville/Jefferson County, Oldham County, and in Jeffersonville and New Albany/Floyd County in Indiana. However, Jeffersonville’s “official” hours are from 6 to 8 p.m., while New Albany/Floyd County kids get a leg up by starting an hour earlier and going also until 8. Louisville-area kids, it seems, get to run wild.
Of course, most houses will have run out by 8 or 9, so the Indiana folks seem to have the right idea. As always, use common sense — and kids, don’t forget to let your parents check out your haul when you get home, for your safety (although in our household we refer to it as the “candy tax”).
And Daylight Savings Time? It ends the NEXT Sunday, at 2 a.m. You can thank the candy lobby for that.
