It's hard to put everything I saw today into words. There were so many great bands that I don't really know where to start.
Here are just a few highlights of my busy day.
Energetic Nashville native SixtyFour got the crowd moving at the Muhammad Ali stage.
Germany-based Ringo performed again. In one of my previous articles, I recommended catching them. I won't say "I told you so," but they were excellent. As I promised on Twitter, pictures of the pianist playing a full keyboard like a keytar after his stand broke are next.
After a relaxing afternoon of meeting new friends, like Henry (pictured below), it was time for more.
A Hard Day's Night performed at the Fountain Stage as fans danced and sang along.
Unfortunately, I missed Wingsbanned while watching the 64 feature concert with The Return, BritBeat, and Jukebox, but the 64 concert was so much fun. As much as I love the psychedelic Beatles (and Wings), nothing can beat the raw energy of the early Beatles. Early rock and roll is just plain fun and good for dancing, and that's what these three bands brought to the stage.
After their performance, the Revolution show began. You know an Abbey Road on the River show is going to be good when you see strings, brass, and woodwinds join the bands onstage. This concert featured so many bands and musicians, I'm not sure I can name them all! The Newbees and All You Need is Love as well as the LSB Experience all had parts to play in this amazing show. With beautiful harmonies and flawless execution, I could tell the musicians took time rehearsing separately and together as one huge band.
Even though I got to see all of this, I still feel like I missed a lot, but that's the great thing about Abbey Road on the River. There is something for everyone, all the time. You cannot walk two steps without hearing beautiful music, and that's as close to heaven as I can imagine. Even now, as I write this article from my room at the Galt House, someone is singing me to sleep with "All You Need is Love."
