    Bit to Do

    Top Secret
    Print this page

Somehow, it is possible to parody a parody.  Find out how when Alley Theater presents Top Secret, which opens on Friday night.

Top Secret performances are to happen on May 17, 18, 24, 25, 31, and June 1 at 7:30 p.m. each night.  A matinee show, meanwhile, will occur on May 26 at 2 p.m.  All performances will take place at the Alley Theater, located inside The Pointe at 1210 Franklin Street in the Butchertown area of Louisville.

Tickets for each show are $20 per person and can be purchased at the door or at the Alley Theater website.

Top Secret is, essentially, a parody of a parody.  The show is a parody of the Zucker Brothers's Top Secret movie, which, in turn, parodied WWII and Cold War-era spy movies.  (Zucker Brothers, by the way, were the same ones that collaborated on such classics as Airplane! and Naked Gun)  In this stage production, a plan to break a scientist out of captivity in East Germany somehow gets an American rock and roll singer involved.

There will be underwater saloon fights, a cow with rain boots, surfboards, and plenty of bad puns.  Audience participation may also be required as the plot to defeat The Torch is revealed.

Season auditions for the Alley Theater will take place on May 18, 19, and 25.
