It’s summer, and we’re all getting out of doors and enjoying the hot, sticky Louisville weather - the perfect time of year to host an outdoor dinner party. But that poses an interesting question - do you want to serve all of your food on boring, uniform and matching plates? What about that sangria you put so much love into - is it going to be served in a plain glass, or (cringe) plastic pitcher? I really hope not, and I’m sure the talented potters of Living On Clay And Louisville Soil (LOCALS) would agree, so come on out this Saturday and spice up your dish collection. Your dinner guests and carefully prepared food will thank you.
The annual event is now in its 33rd year and boasts an impressive array of local talent making a wide array of products. Amy Elswick of will be displaying some of her amazing work, and will be joined by other members of LOCALS and the Louisville pottery community, such as Wayne Ferguson, Matt Gaddie, Suzy Hatcher, Tonya Johnson, Laura George Lynch, Laura Ross, Davie Reneau and J-D Schall. There will be several guest potters as well, so there’s sure to be an amazing array of goods to chose from.
The event is this Saturday, June 28th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s being held at the Masonic Home of Louisville, located at 3701 Frankfort Avenue. To make the event even better, there isn’t any admission fees and parking is nearby and accessible.
