November is here, and that means the holidays are quickly approaching. And a very fun, affordable event is coming up this Friday, November 9 –Sunday, November 11. It’s the 23rd Annual Festival of Trees and Lights at Louisville Slugger Field.

Get into the holiday spirit while surrounded by Christmas trees and wreaths designed by area artists and designers. The decorated trees, wreaths, and greenery will be for sale. The event also creates a festive atmosphere with children’s activities, entertainment, a gift shop, a sweets shop, and a visit from Santa Claus. This will be the first time my family and I will attend and we are really looking forward to it. Nothing like a little Christmas before Thanksgiving!

On Friday, November 9, there is a Dickens Family Night in which attendees will be entertained by costumed characters and carolers of the Dickens-era, special free children’s activities, and the first appearance of Santa Claus. Ticket prices for this event are $5 for children, $8 for adults and $25 for families of four or more. They are available at the door or in advance by calling (502) 629-KIDS.

The event benefits the Addison Jo Blair Cancer Care Unit at Kosair Children's Hospital and is presented in partnership with Republic Bank & Trust Company. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12, $3 for senior citizens.
