The Annual “Olde Tyme Christmas on Frankfort Avenue” will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The celebration will include free trolley rides from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, free horse and carriage rides from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, special retail sales, live music, holiday refreshments, and an appearance by Santa Claus himself!
The schedule of events, such as the Annual Santa Sprint, the festive Dog Walk, and the Good Neighbor Awards is as follows:
9:00am - 16th Annual Santa Sprint and Stroll benefitting United Crescent Hill Ministries (8:00am registration, 9:00am start) This 5k-run, or one-mile walk, begins at Barrett Middle School (corner of Grinstead Drive and S. Peterson Avenue) and is made possible in part by Masonic Homes of KY, Mercy Sacred Heart Village and the Youth of Grace Immanuel . The course is flat and runs along historic Frankfort Avenue in Crescent Hill and Clifton. Fees: $15 early entry (under 18 years old), $20.00 early entry (postmarked by November 21st), or $25.00 late entry (after November 22nd). Early registrants receive a long sleeved t-shirt, and prizes are awarded to top runners in various age groups. Registration forms are available at www.uchmlouky.org. 9:00am until 2:00pm – Living Nativity, Train Display, Craft Fair, Yard Sale and Bake Sale at Third Lutheran Church, located 1864 Frankfort Avenue. For more information, call (502) 896-6383.
9:00am until 3:00pm – Holiday Bazaar at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, located at 2822 Frankfort Avenue. The benefit includes arts and crafts, baked goods, raffles, a silent auction, a giant indoor yard sale and photos with Santa from 10:00am to noon. For more information call (502) 895-2429.
10:30am - Holiday Dog Walk – Participants will meet at the Crescent Hill Library Parking Lot, and then walk to Quest Outdoors for recognitions and return back to the Library. Prizes will be awarded for the most festive dog! Call (502) 585-3430 for more information.
11:00am until 5:00pm – Hollydays Art and Gift Market at the Mellwood Art Center, benefitting Junior League of Louisville. The event will feature hands-on activities by The Paint Spot, wreath-making demonstrations, live holiday carols and a Princess Tea Party. Admission is $5.
12:00pm until 3:00pm - Santa Claus will be at Margaret's Consignment, located at 2700 Frankfort Avenue, posing for photos and giving out candy canes.
11:00am until 6:00pm – Lilli Van Jewelry Trunk Show at Margaret’s Consignment, located at 2700 Frankfort Avenue.
2:00pm - The Good Neighbor, Business of the Year and Golden Antler Awards will be presented in front of Margaret's Consignment, located at 2700 Frankfort Avenue.
2:00pm until 4:00pm - Just Creations, located at 2722 Frankfort Ave, will host live music from Donna and Wes Griffin.
3:00pm until 7:00pm – Peacock Boutique, located at 2828 Frankfort Avenue, will host a Toy Drive for St. Joe’s Children’s Home and anyone who brings a toy will receive a $25 gift card to Peacock Boutique. Holiday cocktails and light appetizers will be served.
