A five-run seventh inning, and five hits from Dave Sappelt (left), propelled the Louisville Bats past the host Indianapolis Indians on Saturday night and into first place in the International League West. Louisville's victory, coupled with Columbus' lost, gave the Bats a half-game lead in the division.

In his second rehab starter Aaron Harang was rocked for six earned runs and nine hits in six innings as the Syracuse Chiefs beat the Louisville 8-1 Friday night to end the Bats' franchise-best 14-game winning streak at Louisville Slugger Field. Despite the loss, though, Louisville remains just a half-game behind Columbus in the International League West. 

One night after hitting a walk-off, grand slam in his Triple-A debut to beat Syracuse, catcher Devin Mesoraco (left) hit a second-inning granny to lead Louisville to a 6-2 victory over the Chiefs on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field. It was the Bats' franchise-record 14th straight win at home.

Twenty-two-year-old catcher Devin Mesoraco, left, hit a walk-off, grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning in his Triple-A debut to give the Louisville Bats a come-from-behind 5-3 win over Syracuse on Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. It was their 13th straight win at Slugger Field, and it also moved them within 1 1/2 games of Columbus in the International League West.

New University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong is the man who has been hand-picked to lead the Cardinals back to the Bowl Championship Series after the please-can-we-forget Steve Kragthorpe Era. He has his work cut out for him, but he's up for the challenge.

In their first home game since Aug. 8 the Louisville Bats extended their franchise-record home winning streak to 12 games with an 8-5 victory over Syracuse on Tuesday night. Yonder Alonso, left, led Louisville at the plate with three hits and three RBIs as the Bats stayed within 2 1/2 games of Columbus in the International League West.

The Louisville Bats, in the thick of the International League playoff race, begin a four-game series against Syracuse at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats play 11 of their next 14 games at Slugger Field, where tonight there will be $1 hot dogs and Pepsi products.

The University of Louisville men's basketball team, and coach Rick Pitino (left), will play 2010 NCAA runner-up Butler at 8 p.m. Nov. 16 in the new KFC Yum! Center in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN as part of the network's "College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon."

The Louisville Bats out-hit host Columbus 12-8, but left 14 runners stranded on base in an 7-3 loss at Huntington Park as the Clippers completed a three-game sweep. Louisville went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Louisville lost its second straight game Saturday night, falling 1-0 to host Columbus at Huntington Park. The defeat dropped the Bats (68-53) 1 1/2 games behind the Clippers (70-52) in the IL West heading into Sunday's finale of the three-game series.
