    Shawn Roof, the son of former Louisville Redbird great Gene Roof, continued to blister Louisville Bats' pitching - going 3-for-4 - to lead the Mud Hens to a 6-2 victory at Louisville Slugger Field. Louisville's loss, coupled with a victory by Columbus, trimmed the Bats' lead in the International League West to a half-game.

    A five-run seventh inning and some solid pitching propelled the Louisville Bats to an 8-0 win over the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field. The victory, coupled with one by Columbus, helped Louisville maintain its 1 1/2-game lead over the Clippers in the International League West standings. Jeremy Horst, left, notched his first Triple-A victory for the Bats.

    Toledo pitcher Charlie Furbush recovered from a shaky start to shut down the Louisville Bats' bats over the final eight innings as the Mud Hens beat Louisville 8-3 Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field. However the Bats maintained their 1 1/2-game lead in the International League West because second-place Columbus also lost.

    Highly-touted pitching prospect Aroldis Chapman (left) a threw a 105 mile-per hour fastball, and struck out the side, in the top of the ninth inning then Danny Dorn made a key baserunning play and Wilkin Castillo delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth as Louisville beat Columbus 2-1 at Louisville Slugger Field. The victory gives the Bats a 1 1/2-game lead over the Clippers in the International League West with 10 games to play.

    It was announced Friday that the University of Louisville men's basketball team, coached by Rick Pitino (left), has taken a double hit. Neither former Memphis guard Roburt Sallie, nor 2010 signee Justin Coleman will be eligible to play for the Cardinals in the upcoming season.

    Columbus outfielder Jose Constanza. The outfielder went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead Columbus to a 5-2 win over the Louisville Bats on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field. The loss, Louisville's fifth in a row to Columbus, narrowed its lead in the International League West to a half-game heading into Friday's night final meeting of the regular season between the two teams.

    Indianapolis managed only three hits, but two were first-inning home runs in the Indians' five-run first at-bat, on the way to a 6-2 win over the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Field on Wednesday night. The Bats, however, maintained their 1 1/2-game lead in the International League West because second-place Columbus lost to Toledo.

The victory, coupled with a Columbus loss, boosted the Bats' lead in the International League West to 1 1/2 games.

    Veteran catcher Corky Miller, left, ignited the Louisville Bats' comeback from a 3-0 deficit in the final two innings of their 6-3 victory over the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field on Monday night. Miller hit a leadoff home run in the eighth inning, then a go-ahead, two-run double in the ninth to help Louisville keep its half-game lead over Columbus in the International League West.

    The host Indianapolis Indians scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally for a 4-2 victory over the Louisville Bats on Sunday afternoon. However despite the loss Louisville maintained its half-game lead over Columbus in the International League West because the Clippers lost to Toledo on Sunday evening.
