Senior quarterback Adam Froman, left, had the best game of his brief career - in spite of his lost fumble and late interception - by completing 22 of 38 passes for 288 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 46 yards and two TDs.

    The University of Louisville will play its first men’s basketball game, albeit an exhibition, against Northern Kentucky University at 2 p.m. on Halloween, according to the Cardinals’ compete schedule that was released Friday. UofL coach Rick Pitino, left, calls it "the most competitive schedule we have faced."

    Here is quick look back at the weekend that was for the University of Louisville football team. The Cardinals picked up their first victory of the season, and the first victory of the Charlie Strong Era, with a 23-13 victory over Eastern Kentucky University to bounce back from a Week One loss to archrival Kentucky. The highlight of the win was the first career touchdown for senior wide receiver Doug Beaumont, left.

    The Durham Bulls bombed the Louisville Bats 8-1 Saturday night in the Governors’ Cup semifinals to even their International League playoff series at 2-all and force a decisive fifth game Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. A win would keep the Bats alive in the IL playoffs, while a loss would end their remarkable season.

    Todd Frazier’s one-out, two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning propelled the Louisville Bats to a 2-1 win over host Durham in the Governors’ Cup semifinals at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Louisville leads the best-of-five series 2-1 and can clinch a spot in the Governors’ Cup championship series with a victory at 7:05 p.m. Saturday or 5:05 p.m. Sunday.

    The Durham Bulls evened the Governors’ Cup playoff series Thursday night by beating the Louisville Bats 6-2 at Louisville Slugger Field. Five Durham pitchers limited Louisville to four hits, while the Bulls scored five runs in the first five innings to tie the best-of-five series at 1-all. The series concludes in Durham over the weekend.

    The Louisville Bats took a 1-0 lead in the first round of their Governors’ Cup playoff series against Durham on Wednesday night with an 8-4 win over the Bulls at Louisville Slugger Field. They got a strong start from Chad Reineke and 10 timely hits to take the first game in the best-of-five International League playoff series. The second game of the series is at 6:05 p.m. Thursday night at Slugger Field.
