Hmmm...what to do on a lazy Sunday evening? You could turn on the tube, but you know Sunday night television has its own place in hell. You could finish your list of chores-- tedious and dull. You could have a glass of vino, but you know you'd pass out on the couch with your jaw agape in about an hour. How about something completely different? Pack up the kids and head to Bardstown Road for the 6th annual Zombie Attack Walk.
At around 8:00 pm this Sunday the 29th, Bardstown Road will transform into a scene from "Night of the Living Dead." Zombies from near and far will convene at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road and attempt to stop traffic and wreak havoc on diners or Sunday strollers. This year, the Louisville Zombie Walk is trying to make it into the Guiness Book of World Records for the largest Zombie walk in the world (add it to the list of keeping Louisville weird and why Louisville directly under Derby).
The event is completely free and there are prizes (his and her living wills from Ratterman Funeral Home, Ear-X-Tacy gift cards, Ultra Pop Gift Pagages, and free tattoo coupons) for the best costume. The categories this year are: best king and queen zombie, gross zombie, hot zombie, and the golden machete. Stop by Bearno's in the Highlands for a zombie double feature: "Dead Snow" and "Dawn of the Dead."
I promise you it's better than Cold Case or Andy Rooney's monologue. The kids won't know what hit them.
