    'The Dead Walk the Earth'
    Diamond's Pub and Billiards
    3814 Frankfort Ave.
    Aug. 28, 8 p.m.
At least 250 people are expected to turn out for the world premier of this zombie western music video by performer, producer and writer Divinity Rose. Sticking with the zombie theme, there'll be music by OK Zombie, a fashion show with a zombie catwalk hosted by a half-zombie puppet (what's the other half?), authors autographing zombie novels, a casket-ride simulator, a prize to the best zombie costume in the audience and $5 zombie drink specials. No cover charge. Tomorrow Louisville.com will publish an article on Divinity Rose.

    Artist's reception for Mark Whitley
    Kaviar Gallery
    1718 Frankfort Ave.
    Aug. 28, 6-9 p.m.
Artist Mark Whitley, who specializes in fine, handmade furniture (I doubt he uses much particle board) will be fêted at Kaviar Gallery as part of the F.A.T. Friday Hop. While Whitley grew up in a family of cabinet makers, trips to New Zealand, Argentina, Belize and Mexico also influenced his functional yet expressive work. Whitley's woodworking will be on display at Kaviar Gallery through Sept. 12, but Friday gives you the opportunity to take it in with the artist--and complimentary refreshments.

    Brew at the Zoo
    Louisville Zoo
    100 Trevilian Way
    Aug. 29, 4-9 p.m.
Ever since I read that in 1981 The Who's guitarist Pete Townshend was found sleeping in the bear pit of a zoo in Austria, I've yearned to have a good jolly-up at the zoo--if only to gain artistic insight and life experience. My plan was to fill a CamelBak with Remy Martin, but this Saturday afternoon the Louisville Zoo has eliminated the need to smuggle in my own hooch. Brew at the Zoo features more than 25 local and regional beers, as well as local wines (I've never tried a Kentucky wine, but I'm guessing that while the state appropriated the names of many cities from France, it didn't acquire its winemaking skills). There'll also be live music. Tickets at the door are $50, $40 for designated drivers. (Sure, it's a fundraiser, but a $10 discount ain't much of a financial incentive to spend a sober Saturday afternoon amidst a bunch of drunkards).

    Ironman Louisville
    A whole lot of places
    Aug. 30, 6:50 a.m.
Unlike the other events in this article, the Ironman Louisville probably doesn't involve drinking. Read the course description to scope out viewing points. And LaGrange, 25 minutes north of Louisville, is hosting an Ironman Festival at a point that cyclists pass twice. The race finishes at Fourth Street Live!, which means Cordish Company probably got more of your tax dollars.

    "Mad Men" Sundays
    Proof on Main
    702 W. Main St.
And. 30 and every Sunday, 8-11:30 p.m. ("Mad Men" airs at 10 p.m.)
In honor of a TV show that everyone watches but me, Proof on Main is offering a special bar menu of retro drinks and discounted food on Sunday nights. Featured cocktails include $8 gin gimlets and Gibson's and a $9 Jackie K. Proof also is encouraging customers to dress like one of their favorite characters.
