On Labor Day weekend 2008, the Belvedere (5th & Main Streets) will be the scene of a festival celebrating the world! Louisville Metro is sponsoring this FREE event on Friday and Saturday from 11am-11pm, and invites visitors to come out and experience the world right at their feet.
This year’s festival will showcase some of the best local and international music with two continuous stages of sound and melodies. Come out and hear local Flamenco, Middle Eastern, Bolivian and Caribbean bands as well as Latin sounds by Del Castillo from Austin Texas and Celtic rock by the Glengarry Bhoys and Reggae by The Ark Band.
A World Fest wouldn’t be complete without featuring one of the best parts of international flair: the food! Forget the usual Italian and Mexican favorites and experience something brand new! Visitors will have a chance to try foods from across the globe including Ethiopian dishes, German food, Jamaican tastes and Thai food among many others, so bring a big appetite!
Looking for a unique and one-of-a-kind gift or accent piece? The World Fest will have over 30 booths of shopping of handmade styles and keepsakes from all across the globe including Africa, Asia, Europe and Central & South America.
Guests can also see local and regional residents in their native dress at the world parade on Saturday at noon. Come and check out drink/wine tasting opportunities, informational and cultural booths located throughout the festival, buy a raffle ticket for a chance to take home one of the many prizes and gift cards and much more!
So, put on your sarong and tribal headdress and celebrate the flavor of the world at World Fest 2008!
