Summer is finally in full swing, and for adults, that means it’s time to grill deliciously juicy steaks, bypass all other drinks and go straight for Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy and ride Kentucky Kingdom's new Cyclos. But for kids, summer means so much more (even if they’re not yet the required 48 inches tall to ride Cyclos).

A break from school, a period of hot weather, an opportunity to explore. For kids, summer is everything. And Carmichael’s Kids Bookstore knows this, which is why it’s packing in as much summer fun as possible this month, starting with its annual Find Waldo Local!

And yes, we’re talking about that Waldo. The same Waldo that children of the '90s drove themselves crazy trying to find in the insanely popular Where’s Waldo book series.

And now Carmichael’s Kids' Find Waldo Local brings the famously hard-to-find storybook character to life in Louisville. Several local businesses around town have come together to make this real-life search for Waldo possible. Each participating business has been given a small Waldo of their own to hide within their Louisville location, and it’s up to the kids of our city to find them all!

Kids who would like to participate can pick up a Find Waldo Local passport from Carmichael’s Kids in the Highlands. This passport will help searchers keep track of each Waldo-hiding business. And with this passport in hand, kids are encouraged to check out every local business they can in search of that famous red and white striped shirt and those iconic black framed glasses.

The search is on until July 31, so don’t delay! And don’t forget about all the other fun stuff Carmichael’s Kids has planned for this summer, like Storytime every Thursday and Friday and the Summer Book Club!

Carmichael’s Kids Bookstore is located at 1313 Bardstown Road. For a full list of its events, visit Carmichael’s website
