Check out our 2016 guide to Thanksgiving!

Around the holidays, even those of us who very much enjoy cooking may need a little assistance, especially if we have a large Thanksgiving gathering planned, or time is short. Whether you want to order and pick up the whole dinner, or supplement your homemade specialties, these Louisville restaurants, bakeries and caterers have you covered, and they won’t mind if you take all the credit, either. Be sure to order as soon as possible, to make sure you are able to get exactly what you want.

Kingsley’s Meats is serving up fully cooked traditional dinners with roasted turkey, dressing, green beans, gravy and rolls, or order a fresh Amish turkey to cook. Call 502-459-7585 to order.

My husband says of Thanksgiving, “I don’t really care about the turkey, just give me all those sides,” and The Cheddar Box Café is serving up that goodness. Place your order for Cranberry-Orange Relish, Jalapeno Cornbread Stuffing and a long list of other sides. Then the desserts: pumpkin, pecan or Kentucky butter pie, plus many others. Maybe a pumpkin cake, too. Call 502-245-2622 to order.

Last-minute guests? Forgot to turn the oven on? Claudia Sanders Dinner House has everyone covered this Thanksgiving. You can pick up an entire dinner to go, all day Wednesday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving day. Turkey, mashed potatoes, candied yams, pumpkin pie and more. Just select either all white meat or a mix and they’ll set you up. Call 502-633-5600 for more information.

Yeast and butter rolls from Heitzman’s Bakery will go over well with that turkey or ham dinner. Then load up on homemade mince, pecan and apple pies. Call 502-426-7736 to order.

If you can dream it, Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen probably makes it. We’re talking pie, from apple to chocolate pecan to French silk. Go non-traditional and get the butterscotch meringue. You won’t regret it. Call the nearest location to order.

Let’s face it, devotees of Plehn’s Bakery have a Pavlovian response to its seasonal goodies. They’re kitschy and cute, sweet and satisfying. Order up some turkey cookies or a “baked turkey” cake, complete with those fancy little paper hats for the legs. Call 502-896-4438 to order.

Annie May’s Sweet Café has your desserts covered, especially if you need to accommodate allergies or other dietary restrictions. Try the pumpkin cake, carrot cake or chess pie here; it’s all nut-, soy- and gluten-free. You can also get allergen-free rolls for your Thanksgiving dinner. Call 502-384-2667 to order.

    About Kachina Shaw

A transplanted Hawkeye, I've now lived in Louisville longer than any other city. Can't live without: my husband and fur babies, coal-black coffee, peanut M&Ms, sunflowers, monthly vacations, books, walking paths, massage and a big purse.
