Dancing and Leftovers for Black Friday

Here’s a way to get out of the house for some fun the day after Thanksgiving that doesn’t involve taking an elbow to the ribs from a mall shopper or dodging crappy drivers in the parking lot. (Or you can go shopping first, if you insist, but save a little energy.)

Bravo Dance Studio is hosting a Post-Thanksgiving Leftover, Dance and Karaoke Party Friday night. Starting at 8:00 p.m., it’s dancing to latin, swing, salsa and ballroom music. And if you’re a beginner, come at 7:00 p.m. for a Basics class to get you warmed up ($7 for the class, or $10 for the party, or $15 for both). For first-time guests of the studio, the class is free.

As far as the leftovers go, says organizer Ann Marie Werner, “We’ve had this Thanksgiving leftovers potluck for the last few years. Actually, most of what people bring is not leftovers at all, but it’s a fun idea. We get turkey, rolls, cranberry sauce, pies, cookies, the works.”

Couples and singles are welcome, and no RSVP is needed. Werner suggests that guests be at least 13 years old, as no childcare is provided.

The dancing doesn’t stop, but at 9:00 p.m., karaoke also gets started, and Werner says a “very, very good” local artist will sing and keep things moving along.

Bravo Dance Studio is located at 2138 Old Shepherdsville Road.

    About Kachina Shaw

A transplanted Hawkeye, I've now lived in Louisville longer than any other city. Can't live without: my husband and fur babies, coal-black coffee, peanut M&Ms, sunflowers, monthly vacations, books, walking paths, massage and a big purse.
