    It's hard to keep up with all the food-and-booze-news around the 'Ville. Here are a few tidbits we find noteworthy this week:

    Booze News:

    Tonight is Meta’s inaugural “civilized after-office gathering for downtown professionals.” Yes, there will be drink specials. This gathering will happen every Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

    As of March 6, Great Flood Brewing Company on Bardstown Road announced that they were fully licensed and would begin brewing. 

    Hillbilly Tea and their tea-infused booze is pretty popular in China. Check out this article from Culinary Backstreets for a little more explanation. 

    Another thing we're looking forward to this spring: the opening of Copper & Kings Brandy Distillery in Butchertown. Their facebook page claims they will be opening Spring 2014, so keep an eye out


    That Place Downstairs, an upscale restaurant located in the downstairs of Mussel & Burger Bar, is set to open March 27. Eater Louisville has a menu preview here. That Place Downstairs' Facebook page is full of teasers: food photos and pictures of the interior.

    The Comfy Cow is opening on Bardstown Road, in that big Heine Bros location. In other news, there are not many places left in the 'Ville that one can roam without the temptation of a Comfy Cow close at hand. 

    A sure sign of spring: Dairy Kastle is open. Go get an Orange Cow and chili dog to celebrate!

    Special Occasions:

    If you didn't already know, Grasshoppers Distribution shut down, and left some local farmers in the lurch. To help assuage this problem, attend the Grasshoppers Afterparty at Harvest on March 17. Tickets are $25, $50 and $74 and will help retire the farmers' remaining debt. 

    If you're observing Lent, or if you just like fried fish, the Archdiocese has released a list of fish fries in the Louisville also put together a list of local restaurants that specialize in fried fish, so enjoy.
