The University of Louisville football team, which is unbeaten and was untested in its last game, heads out on its first road trip of the season this weekend.

The 21st-ranked Cardinals (2-0) play at new Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. in Charlottesville, Va.

UofL fans shouldn’t be cavalier about the Cavaliers (1-1). They gave 12th-ranked UCLA all it wanted in the Aug. 30 season-opener before the Bruins (who coincidentally host Texas and former UofL coach Charlie Strong on Saturday) prevailed at Scott Stadium. Virginia is tied for second nationally in turnovers gained with nine (six fumble recoveries and three interceptions) in its first two games, so taking care of the football will be a big key for the Cards.

Here’s a quick look at what else to watch (and follow) in UofL sports this weekend:

    • The volleyball team (3-3), which is coming off a loss to archrival Kentucky, travels to Morehead State this weekend to play in the Comfort Inn and Suites Invitational. The Cards meet 15th-ranked Arizona State in their first match at noon Friday before facing the host team at 7 p.m. Friday evening. UofL then meets Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. Saturday.

    • The baseball team concludes its first week of full-squad fall workouts with a pair of scrimmages. The first is set for 3 p.m. Friday and the second will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium. Both are open to the public.

    • The 11th-ranked field hockey team (4-0), which is off to its best start in 34 years,  will also travel to Virginia for a pair of games this weekend. The Cards take on the ninth-ranked Cavaliers at 6 p.m. Friday evening before playing at William & Mary at noon Sunday.

    • The women’s soccer team (2-3) has a pair of matches on its schedule this weekend. The Cards play at Morehead State at 6 p.m. Friday evening (UofL is 11-0 all-time against the Eagles) before returning home to host Kent State at 1 p.m. Sunday at Lynn Stadium.

    • The cross country teams are back in action Saturday morning. The men’s and women’s squads will participate in Vanderbilt’s Commodore Classic, which will begin at 9 a.m. in Nashville.

    • The fifth-ranked men’s soccer team (1-1-1), which is coming off a 1-0 loss at Saint Louis on Tuesday night, hosts Duke in its ACC opener at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Lynn Stadium.
