Word has reached the ‘Ville from Chicago that former University of Louisville running back Senorise Perry will move into the backfield of the Chicago Bears.
Perry was at a tryout camp for the Bears when they offered him a free agent contract, according to the Chicago Tribune newspaper. Considering his recent history, he seems to have come all the way back from a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL) that put an end to his junior season in 2012 when he was on track for a thousand yard rushing season. As it was, he finished with over 700 yards and 11 touchdowns. When you add in his all purpose yards from receiving and returns you find that over 100 yards of offense per game ran through Perry that season.
Last year, he had to share time in a loaded Cardinal backfield that included Dominique Brown and Michael Dyer. Even with all that talent, he took it to the house 6 times on 677 yards rushing. He also added a TD reception to the mix.
At press time, the Bears haven’t made an official announcement, but experts expect Perry to make the team. He may have had the same secret weapon that ex-Cardinal Brandon Dunn had when he signed his free agent contract with the Bears. Former Louisville recruiter and defensive line coach Clint Hurtt now coaches in Chicago.
So now a single Louisville team has placed Calvin Pryor, Marcus Smith, Teddy Bridgewater and Preston Brown in the NFL via the draft. Shortly after Damian Copeland, Hakeem Smith, Roy Philon, the aforementioned Brandon Dunn and now Senorise Perry have all signed free agent deals.
Is it any wonder why Louisville Athletic Director Tom Jurich wanted to keep Charlie Strong around?
