One of the biggest nights of the year!

“Twas the night before Thanksgiving, and all through the bars, not a glass was left used, no bottle unopened”. Okay well you get the point. Wednesday night, before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest nights of the year for the bar industry, every bar opens its doors and welcomes the masses.

Poplar spots include: Bardstown road or Saint Matthews. Bardstown road for the past few years has tended to be the place where the overwhelming majority of the crowds go. When I was in college, everyone went to Bardstown Road, in particular Molly Malone’s.  The event is usually a high school reunion for the four major Catholic high schools.  Highly recommended bars on Bardstown: Molly Malone’s, O’Shea’s, or Flannigan’s.

However with the addition of Tin Roof, to the Saint Matthews area, more and more people are headed to this area.  Saint Matthews has just as many great bars on one street as Bardstown road. Expect huge lines and lots of traffic. Popular spots on Shelbyville road include: Molly Malone’s, Drakes, Tin Roof and Gerstles.

But if you’re in the mood to mix up tradition, you can always head to 4th Street Live! on Friday night and enjoy Black Friday Bar Crawl. $15 gets you an all-inclusive package from 10-Midnight. Tengo sed Cantina, Angel’s Rock Bar, PBR, Mosaic and Sports and Social Club are all participating.

Another fabulous option is J Wagner’s annual “Turkey Bash” at Prime Lounge. No cover before 12. Drink specials include $3 Jack Daniels and more, all night.

Wherever you go, expect the bars to be extremely crowded and the area heavy with traffic.

Best idea is grabbing a cab, or using City Scoot!
