We see you appreciate a good vintage. But there comes a time to try something new. Click here to head over to the redesigned Louisville.com. It's where you'll find all of our latest work. And plenty of the good ol' stuff, too, looking better than ever.

    Bit to Do

Promoted as an invite-only party starting at 7 p.m. with the doors opening to the public at 10 p.m., by the time I made it to Prime Lounge's Celebrity Jockey Bartending Event around 11 p.m., the bartenders were too tall and well endowed in the chest to be jockeys. So I saddled up to the bar, ordered a Woodford on the rocks (a sponsor of both the event and my sanity) and just took in my first evening at one of Louisville's chicest night spots.

Evidence that I'm not aging gracefully:

    • Rather than thinking, "Damn, she's hot," when I saw a scantily clad young lady (of which there were many), I thought, "Damn, I better get home and staple my infant daughter to her crib so she doesn't grow up to dress like that."
    • While sitting on a couch by myself, a Prime employee came over to Windex it.

But my Woodford was well poured, so Old Man Everson stuck around for a while. Prime had a good crowd, busy near the bar, but not so jammed that you couldn't get a drink (sticking with the I'm-old theme, apparently the elbows needed to get through a crowd are the first thing to go)--and props for having one of the few racially diverse crowds I've seen in the city. The DJ kept the high-energy crowd dancing, although why he'd ever want to mess with perfection and remix Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" is beyond me.

I'll be back at Prime Lounge on Derby Eve for the Playboy Celebrity Lounge--rest assured, I'll arrive on time to catch the guests of honor.
