My toddler and I are getting ready to finish up our eight week spring semester in our third year of music classes with Heartland Music Together. Last week, my toddler was enthusiastic about beating on the large drums in circles with other children. “Listen, listen, everyone, listen to me play my drum” echoed through the room at John Knox Presbyterian Church where we meet with other families for our weekly music class. Each night at bedtime, he requests “the kitchen song”, which is really “All Around the Kitchen.” Our music classes have really had an impact on him. Our music time together brings us closer together as well; we sing everything we can, dance all the time, and make everything “drummable” in our house. Music class is my toddler’s favorite “look forward to” thing of every week.
The spring semester is ending, but families have an opportunity to try out a class during the end of semester FREE music demos at many of the locations around town. Here is a list of the upcoming demos. It is recommended that you call 502-491-3131 to pre-register or register online.

Also, Heartland Music Together recently expanded into Southern Indiana with a class meeting in New Albany and into Shelbyville. They are expanding again this summer with a new class location in Fern Creek. Last semester they had a record enrollment-get signed up quickly! The summer session begins on June 23 and goes for six weeks. The fall semester will resume on September 8.
