    Toast on Market

Having good breakfast is a Louisville tradition. There are many places in the ‘Ville that specialize in great eggs, bacon, and toast. Thus far, I have yet to come across a place that serves fluffier eggs. If you’re looking for a great brunch place this weekend, look no further than Toast on Market.

The exact location is 630 East Market, right next to Harvest. When you walk in, the seating is unique, with an indoor patio in the front and more traditional booths and tables in the back. The staff is inviting and the atmosphere is a mix of laid back and trendy.

First off, there’s a bar. Since the restaurant is only open until 2pm during the week, they have a great mimosa list. Try the Kentucky Mimosa (original mimosa +bourbon bitters, folks). Breakfast is served all day, and I’m telling you, you won’t want anything else.

I have two suggestions for you. First, an original: a bacon and egg sandwich. Toast does it their own way by adding Gorgonzola and arugula drizzled in Dijon vinaigrette. You choose how runny you want your eggs, and you even have the option to make them local farm-fresh.

Not fond of bacon? (Well, you’re not MY friend, but) I suggest you go for their South of the Border omelette. White cheddar cheese and Chorizo sausage fill little clouds of egg with salsa and sour cream on the side. How they get their eggs so fluffy, you might ask? They’re shaken, not stirred in true bartender fashion.

Not looking for breakfast? They have an exceptional lunch menu, too. I’d suggest trying their garlic cheddar grilled cheese. Shallots and roasted garlic make the spread, while tomato slices and sharp cheddar cheese do the talking. So. Good.

Toast on Market isn’t the only place to get your fill—there’s a New Albany location as well. While they’re closed Mondays, they are open from 7am to 2pm from Tuesday-Friday. On the weekends they’re open for an hour longer (7am-3pm).

If you’re looking for a great spot to day drink while having some of the best breakfast or brunch in Louisville, make a trip on over to Toast on Market this weekend.
