Garage Bar is sending the summer off with a delicious, fireside Hog Dinner on Sunday, August 30, at 6 p.m. “The roast is something fun we’re doing to draw everybody out and enjoy the nice weather while it’s lasting,” says General Manager Maggie Smith.
A local hog is the main course, but that’s only the beginning. You can expect to see sides like the always-classic braised collard greens, corn biscuits, roasted in a wood fired oven for a new take, and roasted thyme potatoes. For fresh greens, Chef Richard Sible is preparing a mixed green salad with local peaches and whatever else he can get his hands on. A panzanella salad will round out the main food offerings, not including dessert, of course.
Garage Bar’s outdoor seating will be perfect for relaxing and devouring the feast before you. As Chef Sible puts it, “Nothing sounds like the end of summer better than biscuits, greens and roasted pork.”
To quench your thirst, they’re serving up something especially refreshing — $6 glasses of their house-made Peach Sangria! The turf-covered couches and outdoor games like Corn Hole and Ping-Pong will pair nicely. And, of course, there’s the rest of their bar offerings. After all, it’s not Garage Bar without the Bar.
To end the evening — and the summer — marshmallows will be roasted, chocolate will be melted and graham crackers will be smashed together as everyone gathers fireside to make s’mores and share in the good times.
NuLu is a beautiful area to spend the evening, and Garage Bar is an excellent location to sit back and watch the sun set over Downtown. The Hog Dinner is the perfect end to the weekend and the summer.
The dinner is $25 per person. Limited seating available. Call 502.749.7100 to claim your seat! Garage Bar will also be open for regular business and menu servings as well.
