Strati Wild Italian officially opened today, September 29, at 1702 Bardstown Road. The minds that brought Louisville Wild Eggs and Wild Rita’s are behind Strati, so expectations were high as I strolled in for a lunch date.
The interior of Strati is bright and cheerful, with a wide-open door that leads to a front patio with a few seats. The menu is by no means overwhelming, sticking to the concept of fast-casual Italian. Though a few pre-built combinations of wraps, salads and pastas are suggested, the majority of the menu is taken up with the different ingredients available for their build-your-own option: four kinds of pasta are available (including gluten-free and spaghetti squash!) and eight proteins (grilled chicken, crispy chicken, sausage, meatballs, steak, roasted shrimp, Italian beef and grilled veggies) and over twenty-five different toppings, sauces, and dressings.
We tried the small shrimp scampi salad ($7.39) with sun-dried tomatoes, pomodoro, roasted garlic aioli and Italian dressing with ranch: it was fresh, with warm with well-spiced shrimp.
For $6.79 we built our own small pasta bowl, from a base of spaghetti squash, with added Italian sausage, Alfredo sauce, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted mushrooms and fresh mozzarella. There’s currently no limit to the toppings you can get with the build-your-own bowl, which frankly made us a little gluttonous. Spaghetti squash is an excellent pasta alternative for those living low-carb, keto, or gluten-free lives.
The molten mozzarella and bread ($4.50) was positively enormous, an entire medium-loaf of bread and about a cup of melt-y mozzarella cheese to dip. Two people could easily split this for lunch.
Strati is a welcome addition to Bardstown Road, and will almost certainly spawn several more locations. Currently, their hours are:
Sunday: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Monday – Thursday: 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Friday – Saturday: 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.
You can find them online at StratiWildItalian.com or on Facebook here.
