According to Wild Eggs' facebook page, and Bizjournals.com, the Louisville based chain will be bringing a new restaurant to East Market Street. The restaurant will be called "Wild Rita's" and will be a "modern Mexican tequila bar." The restaurant will have more than 100 different tequila selections. (source)
The space for Wild Rita's, at 455 E. Market St. used to house Mozz, a failed upscale Italian restaurant. The venue is large, and the decor of Mozz was almost baroque in its extravagance; one wonders how much of that luxuriance will carry over to Wild Rita's. East Market St. is the place to see and be seen these days, and the large building is perfectly situated between NuLu and Downtown.
The Wild Eggs restaurants in Louisville have been extremely successful, but one also wonders how Wild Rita's will be able to distinguish itself in a city brimming with Mexican restaurants. The choices are numerous, from the upscale: El Camino, El Mundo, and Guaca Mole; to the more affordable: Ramiro's Cantina and Sol Aztecas, to name a few.
Wild Rita's is slated to open by the end of the year.
