Founded in 2000, St. Baldrick's was originally put together to raise a fairly small amount of money, but quickly grew into the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research, giving the proceeds to institutions like St. Jude's & Kosair. Since it's start, St. Baldrick's events have taken place in over 24 countries, as well as all of the 50 states. Hundreds of thousands of volunteers have shaved their heads for the good of this cause including over 10,000 women! The way this thing works is that volunteers request monetary donations of support form friends and family, each becoming a walking billboard for the cause.
Several will be shaving their heads for the cause that day, and hopefully a fat following will show up in support with donation money to burn. I'll be out there in support of a good friend of mine, Insub Beckley, and would love to see everyone come out and bring friends of their own. You don't need to give to come party with us that day, but the gesture would be greatly appreciated, and as far as making donations, you can donate that day while in attendance, or even by just going online to: www.stbaldricks.org/participants/insub.
The Nach Bar sits at the corner of Charles and Krieger, and their address is 969 Charles Street, Louisville, Ky. 40204. It's in the heart of Germantown, and just blocks from the Highlands, so be sure to get up out of your recliner, and into the streets in support of a good cause @ 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 20th.
