I'll be thirty later this year, but in the 80's when I was growing up in Germantown, we were plucking joint roaches from the missing mortar brick walls of what now is the Nach Bar. Then, it was Steve & Judy's, a semi-rough biker bar on the wrong side of Goss avenue. Things have definitely changed since then, but I would say for the better. Both, with new ownership, and a younger, more diverse crowd, the neighborhood Nach Bar seems to have a new vibrant life surging thru its veins. The urine-saturated sidewalks of yesteryear seem to have dried up for the hipsters and twenty-somethings that now stomp around through those grounds. Catering to all classes, you can rock it out with a buck-fifty can of PBR, or point and choose from the wall of imported beers on tap. You can catch a live local act there at least once a week, and the place is so quaint that you can stand on the same floor as the band, and see the performers from most any spot in the house. There's an intimacy that's unrivaled, and something great to be said about watching a show from that close. Inexpensive drinks, good company, and great times are just right around the corner at your local Nach Bar.
