Football title, check. Basketball title, check. It has been a beautiful year for Trinity Athletics. The Shamrocks won their first state championship this past Saturday trouncing Scott County 71-53 at Rupp Arena. After advancing over Bullitt East, George Rogers Clark and Southwestern in the first three rounds of the Sweet Sixteen, Trinity had to face a hungry and defensive minded Scott County Team. This was the second matchup this season as Trinity beat Scott County 90-77 in December.
It turned out hunger wasn’t enough as the Shamrocks completely ran over the Cardinals right out of the gate, scoring at will. Trinity shot lava hot 63% from the field and five players scored in double figures. Charles foster led Trinity with 18 points and Nathan Dieudonne tallied a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Dieudonne was named the tournament MVP. Trinity finished the season 35-3, a #1 ranking and only one loss to schools from Kentucky.
