Fans were treated to two down to the wire semifinal games last night at Bellarmine’s Knights Hall. It was an ugly, defensive struggle but (26-4) Bullitt East won in a dog fight over (16-14) Butler 49-39. Butler came out strong in the first quarter ripping off 22 points and limiting the Chargers to only 8 points, but their hot shooting from the field went brutally cold for the rest of the game. The Chargers countered and picked up the intensity on defense and didn’t allow the Bears to reach double digit scoring in the remaining three quarters. Derek Willis lead Bullitt East with a double-double tallying 16 points and 13 rebounds.

In the other semifinal game, (26-6) Pleasure Ridge Park defeated heavily favored (28-5) Moore High school 61-56. Panthers guard Jeril Taylor had 17 points and 9 rebounds in the win. It was a close game start to finish but it all came down to perimeter play. Moore couldn’t buy a bucket from three point territory as they shot 4/20 and didn’t capitalize on the long rebounds on missed shots.

Bullitt East will face Pleasure Ridge Park tomorrow at 7:00pm for the sixth region championship and the opportunity to make it to the Sweet Sixteen.
