Walking into Headliners Saturday was an adventure, finding an empty spot to stand much less finding a seat. As if the trail of cars parked along Lexington Rd. wasn’t a dead giveaway there was a kick ass show at Headliners. The line up took Louisville by storm as Imaginary Cities and Ben Purdom joined The Sea and Cake for an experience not soon forgotten. Looking around the venue, heads we boppin’, feet were tappin’, and there was some ‘stand in your place dancing’ as well.
As previously written, the time The Sea and Cake were coming of age was a slower pace for music, when it actually took time to gain a following; the internet did not dictate how and when people listened to music. The fan base in Louisville is overwhelming as the show got underway. There were a few whistles, but mostly the yelling with arms in the air as The Sea and Cake played that virgin note. A quiet come over the crowd as smooth indie sounds filled the void.
A great turn out for the show, great tunes, and The Moonlight Butterfly made for a fantastic night of grooving with the gents from Chicago. On a personal note, I will be first in line for tickets when they come back through the ‘ville.
