While school is out and summer is in, The Kentucky Science Center is offering camps to keep your pre- kindergartener’s minds engaged throughout the summer.
“Recent national studies show that students who attend camps like ours demonstrate marked improvements in attitudes and motivation about learning,” Science Center Executive Director Joanna E. Haas said. “The benefits of out-of-school camps extend well into the regular school year, and have had tangible connections to Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.”
The School’s Out Summer Camps run Monday to Friday each week from June 1 to August 3. Camp times run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Regular full-week camps cost $195 for members and $220 for nonmembers, full-week specialty camps cost $245 for members, and $270 for nonmembers.

I Like To Move It, Move It
When: Weeks 1 and 6
What: Get on up and get groovin’ to the music all around you. Listen to Mother Nature rockin’ out with tunes from animals to plants – even water! ($195/member, $220/non-member)
Let’s Build
When: Weeks 2 and 7
What: Encourage your little builder with tubes, cubes, blocks, and more while they discover the science and math of building. ($195/member, $220/non-member)
Sensory Explorers (Specialty Camp)
When: Weeks 3 and 8
What: Join us as we use sensory play to naturally encourage your camper to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate, and explore. Each day will focus on a variety of sensory experiences to help them develop cognitively, linguistically, and creatively. Campers will even bring home a recipe book at the end of the week to continue their hands-on sensory experiences at home! (Specialty Camp- $245/member, $270/non-member)
Superheroes 101
When: Weeks 4 and 9
What: Grab your cape and mask and discover what it takes to save the world as we explore all things superheroes in this adventurous camp! ($195/member, $220/non-member)
Open Book Discovery
When: Weeks 5 and 10
What: From Carle to Seuss and everyone in between, each day we’ll study the storytellers who’ve created the wonderful tales we know and love! ($195/member, $220/non-member)
