The Sierra Club's Inner City Outings program introduces young people from a variety of backgrounds in urban areas to the outdoors and activities like camping, backpacking, hiking, canoeing, and rafting. Volunteers lead field trips to the wild places of Kentucky and the region, teaching kids skills like reading maps and compasses, preparing meals, planning itineraries, and choosing equipment.
Some of the participating organizations and vendors included River City Canoe & Kayak, Edge Outreach, the Kentucky Waterways Alliance, Green Earth Outdoors, and Kentucky Wine Tastings.
