Tickets to Santa’s Safari are now on sale online at www.louisvillezoo.org. The popular annual Holiday event is set for December 10-11 and 17-18, 2011 at 10 a.m., 12 and 2 p.m.

This jolly party will transform the Zoo’s Gheens Room in the Islands Pavilion into a festive holiday wonderland and include a visit by Santa, his elves, Frosty the Snowman and more — so be sure to bring a camera to capture some wonderful holiday memories. A complimentary photo with Santa will be provided to each family.

Mrs. Claus will also make an appearance delivering some tasty holiday refreshments for every guest including milk (coffee, lemonade and water for adults) and cookies. Each child will be invited to participate in activities including creating a take-home holiday craft, sing-a-longs and more. Plus families can chill out with the animals letting their Safari Passport guide them along a discovery trail through the Zoo’s heated buildings for some special animal insights and encounters.  Safari Stations will provide guests with the opportunity to have one-on-one interactions with Zoo educators with biofacts and select Zoo outreach animals.  The Safari tour will finish up in the MetaZoo Education Center where the North Pole’s famous storyteller Holly Day will read aloud a popular winter tale.

Special tickets are required. This is normally a sell-out event, so be sure to get your tickets early. Session times are 10 a.m., 12 p.m. or 2 p.m.

Tickets, which include all-day Zoo admission, are:

    • Ages 3 and older - $12 for members, $17.50 for non-members
    • Infant (age 2 and under) - $5 for members, $7.50 for non-members

Additional sponsors include Coca-Cola, The Courier-Journal and Dealchicken.com.

    About Roxane Haynes

I am a working mother of four kids, age five and under, this includes two singletons and a set of twins. When I say working, I mean that I stay at home with them, but work my butt off to take care of them and get the "usual" things done for our home. I also help my husband with our business when I can. B.K. (before kids) I worked in the Human Resource field. Stay At Home Mom is by far my favorite career choice to date.
