After an eight-year hiatus the three members of Cincinnati-based rockers, The Greenhornes are back together and touring behind a new album, Four Stars (****) on Jack White's label, Third Man Records. The Greenhornes will appear this Wednesday, March 23 at Headliner's Music Hall along with Hacienda at 8:00 p.m.
Two-thirds of The Greenhornes have been heavily involved in other projects in the last eight years, most notably with Jack White. Drummer Patrick Keeler and bassist Jack Lawrence joined White to work on Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose in 2004; both recorded and toured extensively with Jack White's other band The Raconteurs, along with Brendan Benson. Lawrence also joined White (who, this time manned the drum kit) in White's other, other band, Dead Weather, featuring Alison Mosshart of The Kills and Dean Fertita (The Waxwings).
Meanwhile, lead vocalist Craig Fox has played in a side-band of his own around the Cincy area.
All the time between records doesn't seem to have hurt the guys' sound. Listening to the new songs, there's no hint of rust, perhaps because of their long history together, starting out together as teenagers. Watch the video embedded below for a taste of the new music.
Tickets are $10 in advance and at the door. The 18 and over show begins at 8:00 p.m. with Hacienda and local band Broken Spurs opening.
