Regalo began as the brainchild of JD Dotson and his partner, Jon Freels. JD’s sister was enlisted as well, and Regalo was born. Regalo has quickly grown from their primary location on Baxter Avenue to include 3 additional stores, even one across the bridge in Southern Indiana in the up-and-coming New Albany.
One of Regalo’s most popular items is the “We <3 Lou” tee shirt by Somebody's Hero. Part of the proceeds from the sale of each tee shirt go directly to Louisville's Coalition for the Homeless.
Regalo also sells local jewelry lines, like Jewelry by Janey and Remade by April.
The team at Regalo is incredibly proud of their city, which they have showcased by opening shops in neighborhoods that aren’t directly in the public eye. For instance, their SoFo location was one of the first shops to open in the up-and-coming neighborhood.
Besides having incredible deals for everyone on your shopping list and an impeccable decor; Regalo also has an art gallery on the second floor at their South 4th Street Location. Artists that have been shown here include Josh Jenkins, Joan Schulte and Josh Mitcham. Presentation Academy is currently in the process of setting up an installation that will run until the end of February.
If you haven't had the chance to see what Regalo has to offer, or to show off this local shop to your out-of-town friends, take some time to visit one of their locations to fall in love with them like I did.
