Friday morning, the inaugural Derby Hat Fashion Breakfast will make its world debut at The Café, located on 712 Brent St. across from Louisville Stoneware. The breakfast fashion show was organized to benefit the Victoria’s Hope Fund, created in memory of Victoria Petersen, a hostess at The Café who succumbed to complications resulting from the end of a long battle with bulimia in August of 2010 at the age of 27.
Revelry Boutique Gallery and The Hanger will have an assortment of handmade dresses, fascinators, jewelry and Derby-inspired items for guests to consider for their trip to Oaks, Derby and the festivities surrounding “the fastest two minutes in sports.” The Hangar will also take custom dress orders for the big day out.
The Victoria’s Hope Fund provides support to The Eating Disorders Coalition of Kentuckiana through the Norton Healthcare Foundation in the operation of the commonwealth’s first-ever comprehensive eating disorders treatment program. The coalition’s mission is to prevent men and women from falling into the psychological and emotional traps that cause bulimia, anorexia et al, provide treatment to those already suffering, and promote healthy body images against the wall of noise found in online, print and televised media.
Tickets for the inaugural Derby Hat Fashion Breakfast are $25 per person, 50 percent of the proceeds from each ticket going directly to the Victoria’s Hope Fund. Hours of the event are from 7 to 11 a.m. this Friday, and the menu will consist of two courses: Scones and muffins for the first course, and a range of items for the second course. Various juices, tea, coffee, milk and soda will also be available.
