So…you’re stuck with relatives who want to go to Fourth Street Live! and soak up the ambiance of the big city. You are a die-hard ‘villian who can’t bring it upon them self to support the corporate driven Cordishian machine that once was the Galleria Mall. Well, there may be a bit of respite to your plight.

It is unknown to most that not only the spicy rice and bean serving joint known as J. Gumbos, but also The Pub, a British-style tavern, has roots here in our Bluegrass. The Pub is an incarnation of Nick Saunders who heralds from Maysville, Ky.  Saunders got his start at an early age by franchising one of our local establishments, KFC, and, by no surprise, did very well. He began to travel and fell in love with the English culture, thus the inspiration for The Pub.  Do all the girls in merry ol’ England dress like that?

The Pub is a nice mash of old world flavor and new world flair that makes for a surprisingly comfortable environment. Its specialty…beer, and lots of it. It features 26 drafts, mostly English, Irish, and Scottish brews, but it also has a few craft selections, and a bottle list that would leave no one to desire.

So, if you have to go to "the Live" venture to The Pub; it is the place where you can feel comfortable spending your ‘local’ dollar.  By the way… get a Scotch egg. You won’t be sorry bloke. Did I say bloke… There goes my credibility.
