Classic comedies and tragedies are on hand for Savage Rose Theatre Company's 2012-13 theatre season.

During Savage Rose's 2012-13 season, the company will present six shows, including: Macbeth (October), The Man With the Flower in His Mouth (October), Lysistrata (December), The Taming of the Shew and The Rover in repertory (March 2013), and The Duchess of Malfi (June 2013).

Macbeth will open the season for Savage Rose.  The kingdom enters chaos, and MacBeth faces madness, as the ambition of power leads to murders and corruption.  Macbeth, a Shakespearean tragedy, will be performed October 18-28.

Also in the fall will be The Man With the Flower in His Mouth, a play featuring a man at the end of his life.  As he contemplates his last moments and his surroundings, a man with plenty of life left but missed his train meets with the dying man in a bar.  The Luigi Pirandello work will take place November 8-17.

Christmas time means peace, but for the men in Lysistrata, the next Savage Rose play, it's all about war.  The women of Greece have had enough, and are keeping sex from the men in order to force them to accept peace.  Will the men accept it?  Find out in the Aristophanes comedy between December 6-15.

Savage Rose will begin the 2013 portion of the season with two shows in repertory: The Taming of the Shrew and The Rover.  The Shakespearean comedy Taming of the Shrew features Petruchio, of Verona, who attempts to court Katherina, a confident shrew.  Meanwhile, The Rover features multiple love experiences, revenge, rejection, and revelations, all intertwiined.

The Taming of the Shrew and The Rover will run in repertory from March 15-30.

Savage Rose will end its season with The Duchess of Malfi.  The tragedy deals with the nightmarish, violent situations that occur after the Duchess marries someone below her class.  The performance runs from June 6-15.

Savage Rose will also host the Words, Words, Words play reading series, featuring: Macbeth (adaptation) (Sept. 23), The Country Wife (Jan. 20, 2013), The Tamer Tamed (Feb. 17, 2013), and The Revenger's Tragedy (May 19, 2013).  These performances are free and will take place at Walden Theatre, located at 1123 Payne Street in the Highlands.
