Desirable streetcars, mousetraps, and a dog that sees God are all in line for Louisville Repertory Company's 2011-2012 season.
During the season, the theatre group will present The Mousetrap (October), Fuddy Meers (February 2012), A Street Car Named Desire (June 2012), and Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead (TBA). All shows, unless otherwise noted, will take place at the Mex Theater in the Kentucky Center for the Arts.
Louisville Repertory Company will open its season with the Agatha Christie-penned The Mousetrap. This murder mystery surrounds the murder of a woman in London. At the same time, guests arrive at a guest house in Monkswell Manor. After learning of the murder and following some rather unusual behavior and situations at the Manor, the guests become amateur sleuths and try to find the killer. Before he/she gets them, that is.
The Mousetrap is expected to run from October 25-November 6 at the Mex Theatre in the Kentucky Center for the Arts. Amy Lewis will direct this production.
Following The Mousetrap is the comedy Fuddy Meers. David Lindsey-Abaire created this production about Claire, a kidnapped woman with a memory problem. Her kidnapper just happens to be a limper who speaks with a lisp. Revelations about each other and life itself take place as Claire's husband and son begin their search for her.
Fuddy Meers will run at the Mex Theater in Kentucky Center from February 28-March 11. Lewis will also direct this production.
A Tennessee Williams classic, A Streetcar Named Desire, will follow in June. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play, which later became a movie, features a culture clash between a working class hero and a fading Southern belle.
A Streetcar Named Desire will go on June 5-17 in the Mex Theater at Kentucky Center. Kathryn Furrow will serve as director.
Last but not least, a take on the classic Peanuts characters will be showcased in Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead. Bert V. Royal created the production as a way to show Charlie Brown, Lucy, and all the other famous characters as teenagers who tackle a slew of modern teenage issues.
Natalie Fields will direct Dog Sees God, though a location has yet to be determined for the production.
