Stories of women from Spain, the Oregon Trail, and in the theatre company's own past will be presented as part of Looking for Lilith's 10th anniversary season.

Looking for Lilith will present three shows this season, including: House of Bernarda Alba (Sept.-Oct.), Beyond the Blue Mountains (Feb.-Mar. 2012), and Looking Back, Looking Forward (May-June 2012).

House of Bernarda Alba leads off Looking for Lilith's season later this month.  The story involves issues of marriage rights, self-censorship, and traditional values.  (Do these issues sound familiar to recent events?).  A mother during the Spanish Civil War has lost her second husband, which leads to a period of mourning for the household.  The mother also exercises total control over her daughters, including in who they can see.

Kathi E.B. Ellis will direct the production, which Federico Garcia Lorca created and Emily Mann adapted.  Shows will take place at the Shelby County Community Theatre, located at 801 West Main Street, in Shelbyville, KY.  Performances are on Sept. 29-Oct. 9, and tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and $10 for seniors.

Getting poetic on the Oregon Trail in February will be Beyond the Blue Mountains.  The show is based on Jane Joyce's poems, which in turn were inspired by diaries pioneer women kept while riding the Oregon Trail.  Multiple voices bring to life their experiences during a time of exploration, casualties, and an unknown future.

Ellis will also direct this show, which will take place at the Rudyard Kipling from Feb. 23-March 3.

Looking for Lilith will close its 10th anniversary season with selections from some of its original plays in Looking Back, Looking Forward.  The repertory will also include the production Becoming Mothers, which looks at motherhood and the social conventions of it. Performances will run at The Bard's Town from May 31-June 9.

Looking for Lilith will also be touring shows this year, including plays about cyberbullying and the Triangle Fire.  More information on the season can be found at the Looking for Lilith website.
