A series of one acts, adbridged William Shakespeare works, and Social Security will be presented during Little Colonel Playhouse's upcoming 2010-2011 theatre season.
The 2010-2011 season for Little Colonel Playhouse will begin with Mornings at Seven in September, a series of one acts in November, Deathtrap in January, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged in March, and Social Security in May.
Little Colonel Playhouse is now selling season memberships. The subscriptions are $50 for adults, $40 for senior citizens, and $40 for students of high school senior age or under. More information and a printable season information form can be found at the Little Colonel Playhouse website.
Mornings at Seven, created by Paul Osborn and directed by Sharon Sommermeyer, will open the season in September. In the production, the Gibb sisters Aaronetta, Ida, and Esther share much of their lives together. A situation arises when Homer, Ida's son, seems unwilling to propose marriage to Myrtle Brown. Myrtle, as a result, is forced to take the situation into her control.
One Acts, created by David Ives and to be directed by Jon Adams, will occur in November. Words, Words, Words will deal with with monkeys, typewriters, and Hamlet. The Universal Language shows Dawn and Don exploring language and love. Ancient History features Ruth and Jack dealing with changes in their relationship nearing marriage. Finally, English Made Simple looks at a romantically attracted man and woman trying to get beyond party talk.
Ira Levin's Deathtrap will be Little Colonel's first show of 2011. This production, to be directed by Janet Morris, will deal with a thriller writer who has not been successful as of late. He will soon plot his own way back to success, no matter the cost.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged will continue the season in March 2011. In the production, three actors will attempt to perform all 37 of Shakespeares productions in just over an hour and a half. Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield created the production, which will be directed by Angela Miller.
Social Security will end Little Colonel Playhouse's season in May 2011. The comedy centers on an art dealer couple's family, which consists of a CPA, an Archetypal Jewish Mother, and a goody goody sister. All three attempt to keep their daughter from living just for lovemaking. The production was created by Andrew Bergman and will be directed by Rick Reinle.
