
Music, musicals of many genres, and a nonstop-talking donkey are to be presented as part of PNC Broadway Across America's 2010-2011 season.
The season has already begun with Jersey Boys. The musical, based on the rise and career of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, features well known songs such as Oh What a Night and Big Girls Don't Cry.
Performances are taking place until August 15 in Whitney Hall in the Kentucky Center for the Arts, located at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.
The Broadway Across America season will continue with performances by Stomp from October 15-17. The eight-man group will use practically anything, including brooms, trash cans, poles, and even lighters, to create a memorable percussion experience.
Various forms of and drama included in dance will be on display in the next production, Burn the Floor. The production, which will run in November, will feature a variety of dances, including the tango, swing, paso doble, and the Viennese waltz.
Rock of Ages, to be produced in January 2011, will feature 80s rock music from artists like Styx, REO Speedwagon, Journey, Poison, and more. The music will surround a love story between a big time rocker and a small town girl.
The music of ABBA takes center stage in Mamma Mia, which will run in February 2011. The tale of love and friendship will features songs like Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes It All, and Take a Chance on Me, as well as the title track.
Les Miserables will follow in March 2011, featuring a special 25th anniversary production. In the show, Jean Valjean, a former conflict, attempts to remain in virtue despite his battles with others around him.
Shrek the Musical, based on the successful movie, will end the 2010-2011 season in June 2011. The production will feature an ogre attempting to save a princess, a donkey that can't stop talking, a short-tempered villain, and others.
