    Bit to Do

Plungers are “freezin for a reason” at this year’s Polar Plunge

The Louisville Polar Plunge is all-the-buzz from what I’ve been listening to on various radio stations. Head out to the Louisville Waterfront near Tumbleweed Restaurant to watch! The 2013 Polar Plunge overtakes the river this Saturday, February 23 starting at 10am. Those organizing the event are encouraging spectators to come out and watch the plungers take to the freezing water of the Ohio River! This is a family event and some interactive activities for kids will be provided. The event begins at 10am with an opening ceremony and costume contest, with winners prized in both individual and group categories. At 10:30am the plunging will begin.

This is the 15th anniversary of the Polar Plunge, which benefits Special Olympics Kentucky. Last year’s Polar Plunge raised $357,000.  The plungers will be jumping from the docks of the Ohio River located near the restaurant, close to the Brown-Forman Amphitheater.

With no precipitation in the forecast, Saturday looks like a pretty dry morning to head to the river with your family and cheer on the plucky Polar Bears. Admission is free for spectators. Tumbleweed on the Waterfront is located at 1201 River Road.
