If you’re like a mom like me and looking for those daytime trick-or-treating gigs, you’ve found a highlight of the season. The Jeffersontown Pumpkinfest will be held this Saturday, October 27 from 11am-2pm. The city of Jeffersontown always puts on a very nice, well executed event for families of Jeffersontown, although anyone is welcome to attend. The Pumpkinfest is one of my family’s favorites of Halloween gatherings.
This year we will walk the streets of historic Gaslight square donned as a “pretty” witch and a dinosaur. Pretty great combo! Kids can trick or treat up and down the main streets of Jeffersontown businesses and pick up some great treats and other novelties along the way. Set down your heavy buckets full of goodies and enjoy the complimentary bouncies, spin art, games, and photo booth as well. Make sure you get entered to win door prizes and snack on the free hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks starting at 11:45 am. There will also be music entertainment provided by a DJ. Check out the steps of Jeffersontown City Hall for a great photo-op. And shop for farm fresh goodies at the last official Jeffersontown Farmer’s Market of the season.
As a side note after you’re done parading the streets, hop in your car and drop off your old files and documents to be securely shredded in the free drive through Community Shredding Day at Skyview Park. From 10am-2pm you can bring a box load or a trunk load, sponsored by Greenway Shredding and Recycling. Surely you’re scared silly with how much you could get rid of so get into the creepy attics full of cobwebs and clean out!
Following the weekend chock-full of Halloween extravaganzas, drop into the Jeffersontown Library on Tuesday, October 30 for a Halloween party at 4pm. There will be spooky stories, a creepy craft, and snacks. Kids of all ages can come in costume if they wish.
