For all of our Best of Louisville fans, I am sure you saw that the Mussel & Burger Bar won “Best Restaurant Worth The Wait”, but have you tried The Place Downstairs? As the name would suggest, this hot restaurant is downstairs from Mussel & Burger Bar and offers higher-end food than the place upstairs. But don’t get too comfortable with this place because it will now be changing in name, menu, and style.
Executive chef Allan Rosenberg took the reins of The Place Downstairs earlier this summer after leaving Papalino’s. Cena will be taking the place of The Place Downstairs. “Cena”, which means dinner in Italian, will be a slightly more casual Italian restaurant and because Rosenberg already has experience with this type of food, it should be a hit. They plan to make meals in shareable size portions and have been actively working on the new menu. Business wasn’t what they had hope it would be, so they decided to go in a new direction. With great food, service, and management, Cena should be off to a flying start as soon as it opens.
The Place Downstairs will be closing the first week of August and will be reopening as Cena on August 11. Cena will be open Monday through Saturday from 5:00 pm-10:00 pm.
