Act today to support a very targeted and quick crowdfunding project in the works to create attractive, informative and functional bus stops at Logan Street and Oak Street, and at 4th Street at Kentucky Street.
A partnership among the Shelby Park Neighborhood Association, the SoBro Louisville Neighborhood Group, Bicycling for Louisville, the Louisville Metro Office of Sustainability, and Luckett & Farley Architects plans to create an “urban lounge and neighborhood gateway” look at the two locations. Each now only has a sign.
You can check out renderings of the planned bus stop projects on the crowdfunding site, ioby.org, which focuses on local projects supported by people who are actually in the immediate area and will benefit from the progress. The project is very close to raising its $8,000 total budget, and plans to close donations today.
The schedule calls for the new stops to be ready for unveiling and a celebratory party in early December.
Project organizers say, “We love these neighborhoods! Currently, these stops are exposed to the elements and are marked by nothing more than a pole and sign. We aim to enhance the transit riding experience and bring new life to street corners in two Louisville neighborhoods that are in need of investment and energy.”
You can donate any amount, and sign up to become a volunteer, too, on ioby.org today.
Update 10/25: the project reached goal!
