If you think one tiny day is enough to celebrate this planet we reside on, think again. The Louisville Zoo has teemed up with LG&E for a month-long celebration of the Earth in April. The Louisville Zoo’s “Party for the Planet” will feature an entire month of special enviro-inspired demonstrations and will culminate in $2 admission for all guests on April 23rd. Don’t miss weekday keeper presentations and animal encounters as well as weekends filled with scavenger hunts, “celebrities”, and special activities. A list detailing the month-long extravaganza follows:

    • Saturday, April 2-- Amphibian Awareness Day featuring “Frog and Toad”: Meet and greet everyone’s favorite amphibians and learn about their endangered habitats from 11;3:00 p.m.

    • Saturdays, April 2, 9, 16--Zoo Poopy Doo Compost and Mulch Sale: From 7:30-11:00 a.m. you can purchase quality hardwood bark mulch and zoo poo, a rich compost mixture comprised of hoof stock manure, hay, and wood shavings. YUM... Anybody have a truck I can borrow?

    • Every Sunday in April--Bring in a used cell phone and receive $2 off admission. Each Sunday will spotlight a different theme: sharks, native flora and fauna, and Metazoo.

    • Saturday, April 9--Primate Awareness Day featuring Curious George: Meet and greet the curious one while learning about primates through keeper presentations and enrichment activities (11-3:00).

    • Saturday, April 16--Crocodilian Awareness Day featuring Lyle Lyle Crocodile: From 11-3 zookeepers will provide insight into the behaviors of these predators and visit with Lyle.
