This weekend, April 19 and 20, the Louisville Zoo is hosting their Eggstravaganza Weekend with Easter activities throughout Saturday and Sunday. This is a new event at the zoo; children are encouraged to bring their Easter baskets for Easter egg hunts. They will learn about the zoo’s egg-laying animals and after they collect eggs, they can turn them in for prizes after the hunt. Children can also visit with the Easter Bunny. During the day on Saturday, April 19, the Kentucky Orchid Society will have a display of orchids for sale. At 1:30pm, an herbalist from Green Gypsy Orchids will teach zoo-goers about medicinal herbs and lead them on a walk throughout the zoo grounds.
During the weekend of April 26 and 27, the Zoo will be hosting another eco-partner day with the Kentucky Science Center and World Penguin Day. Each program will be filled with exciting activities for children to explore hands-on science and animals and their habitats and environment. Zoo goers can also experience the BIG BIG BUGS exhibit full of animatronic giant bugs. All of these offerings are free with a paid admission to the zoo.
