I went on vacation this past weekend and decided to treat myself to this month’s issue of Saveur right off the rack. The striking picture of donut halves on the front is what got me. I flipped right to the main feature article about the world’s best donuts and was pleased to see that Nord’s Bakery made a list of the “50 Finest Donut Shops in America” on page 44!

The list itself is titled “United States of Donuts” inside the magazine, and it was authored by Jane and Michael Stern. They hunt down the best (and least stuffy) donut places in the country as often as they can, and this “research” led them to offer their 50 favorites. Only 24 states were mentioned, and Kentucky was one of them!

Nord’s Bakery has been open since 2002, and it is family-owned. In addition to fabulous donuts, cookies, cream puffs, etc., they also offer wedding and birthday cakes. You might want to contact them now if you wish to order one from them in the future – I have a feeling that business is going to skyrocket after this.

If you get a chance, you should pay them a visit soon to say congratulations!
